Overall look and feel – outdated
Fainting women on the top, doesn’t give the right impression

Task: Buy JomSocial
Scenario:You decided to have instant community solution, go to jomsocial.com find the various versions, and buy it.
Usability Testing Notes:
Can’t find the different versions
Can’t see anything that will help him compare it to other products
The Video Testimonial banner is very distracting
1.6 version is not clickable
What version does he need if he doesn’t have Joomla? What does he do if he wants it for a different platform
Linux website on showcase list confuses tester
Can’t find the word “Version”
Store – a retailer? A shrink wrap product?

Task: Choose a budgeting software, ask for demo
Scenario: Your company needs a web-based budgeting software, choose a budget, find a request for information, ask for a demo.
Usability Testing Notes:
Looks like a beta site, overly simplistic
Doesn’t understand what they do
Can’t find the word “budget”
Tester is irritated
Would go to Google and find something else
Design not professional
Tester wants to see bullet points of what they are offering, plus testimonials
Can’t find where to submit information. Won’t call. May email them.

Can’t find activities, just events

scoreateetime.com is a new exciting service for golfers. It allows golfers to find tee-times available in their area. The guys from scoreateetime.com are very serious about usability and asked me to perform usability testing on their beta site. This is the second round of testing, the first one remains private.

Hibooth.com is a new site, currently in beta, that is offering a virtual booth for individuals and companies to present their services/products. Founder Ping has asked me to perform the following tasks:

Joanna Garzilli is “America’s Intuition Coach,” a TV host and a well-known psychic to the stars. She has also released a new book called “Unleash The Psychic In You.” Joanna is using WordPress for her site, which is a great start already. And because her site was pretty good to start with, I was able to focus on a basic SEO overview.
Tasks:
Improve opt-in rate.
Increase SEO, especially for the keyword “psychic.”
Make the site stickier and increase trust.

The Meditation Mind is currently “under construction” but is meant to be a large portal for meditation-related websites. I was asked by founder Scott Desgrosseilliers to test it, even though the site is not yet finished.
It’s a good idea to test your site even before it’s launched so that problems can be fixed before customers see them.

ConstantConversions.com is a site that sells writing services from newsletters and ebooks to site content. They specialize in creating Web content that’s appealing, engaging and which promotes conversions.
I was asked by founder Dean Shanson to perform three tasks. Dean warned me that he wasn’t happy with the site’s current set-up which made it a perfect time to test: before re-designing… and repeating the mistakes
