A usability study of the leading UK energy and water supplier websites
About this report
In November 2008, Webcredible investigated the usability of 17 of the top energy and water supplier websites in the UK. This year, Webcredible has decided to re-investigate the top suppliers against the same essential usability criteria to see if there’s been any change.
Increasing the usability of a website will increase the success users have in completing key tasks, finding the information they need, completing online payments, etc. Improved usability will also lead to an increase in channel loyalty and return site visitors, and has been connected to direct improvements in the perception of the brand as a whole, both online and offline.
Evaluations of the 17 websites featured in this study were conducted in October 2009.
Who is this report for?
This report is aimed at anyone involved with energy and water supply, including marketing managers, Internet managers and web developers. Although our analysis is focused on these websites, the guidelines are highly transferable to other information and transaction-

"Thanks for a really helpful review. The usability test pointed out a number of important points that we'd missed and offered some very valuable suggestions for improvements. The delivery was very clear too, showing exactly where the site could be improved and how. I'm sure we're going to have a much better -- and far more profitable -- site as a result."
